Jackie Cox,

Certified Child Sleep Consultant

I'm Jackie and I'm currently a nanny to an adorable 3 year old girl in Wimbledon and a 2 year old girl in Balham.

I started my childcare career in 2014 in a nursery where I progressed from an apprentice to a room leader in my 2 1/2 years there.

I then left the nursery to pursue a nannying role with 2 boys, working with them until they were both ready for school.

After this I worked with a set of twins until their family had to move to Ireland. I was lucky enough to be asked to join them as a live-in nanny for a couple of months to help the children settle into their new house and nursery, which I absolutely loved!

However, it was during my time in Ireland where I experienced, first-hand, how difficult bedtimes could be. With one of the twins putting up a battle every single night, I could see the strain and pressure it put on the parents as well as the disruption caused to the other twin.

So it was during this time that I applied to do the course in sleep consultancy through The Sleep Nanny, and have already found a true passion for helping families get the sleep they all need and deserve!

Why you might need a sleep consultant

What most people don’t realise is that self-settling is a learned skill, and easier for some children than others. I’m here to help you help your child learn this essential skill. Sleep is vital for cognitive, physical, social and emotional development, and your children need a good night sleep so they can wake refreshed and ready for the adventures ahead.

But it’s not just your children who need good sleep! How do your children’s sleep challenges affect you and your partner? Your ability to think clearly? Your mood? Your relationships? So how do you think a full night of sleep with affect you?

Using my knowledge, I can help guide you through a bespoke plan personalised for you and your family, which will evolve as we work through the steps I put together.

My approach is gentle, ensuring your child feels secure and you feel comfortable throughout. We will work together to set boundaries and consistency from all caregivers, and achieve well-rested, peaceful nights sleep for you all.

Sleep challenges and common problems we can overcome:

  • Bedtime battles / inability to self-settle / frequent night waking / getting out of bed regularly

  • Early rising

  • Unwanted co-sleeping / bed hopping / big bed transition / own room transition

  • Nap refusals / nap transitions / extending cat naps

  • Ditching the dummy

  • Sleep routines / sleep shaping / night weaning

  • Removing sleep crutches such as rocking / holding / feeding to sleep

  • Clock changes
